How to connect Lexicon 400 to 160 EX

Have a Fostex 160EX and it has a TRS out for Aux effects. How do I do this with the Lexicon 400. It is stereo and also dual engine. Don't know how to get aux buttons on the recorder to work with the Lexicon.
Also, how does the Insert plug work?

Just missing something here.

There is a diagram by the output jack: tip is Aux send 1, ring is Aux send2 (sleeve is ground). You can use an actual insert cable (TRS on one end, splitting into two TS cables/plugs at the other end) to feed each input of the 400. You need to route the output(s) of the 400 back to VF channel input(s).

The inserts can only be used while actually recording. Follow the tagging/labeling on your insert cable (ione cable for each channel).

Thanks for the information. That actually sounds like it will work. I'll be trying this out and let you know how it goes. I've been obsessing over this for sometime thinking I need a seperate mixer with aux sends and returns or something.
Well, experience makes for wisdom. Thanks for the feedback.
