I picked up an old Tascam M-520 console and I need to clean the inside. I need to spray some solvent inside the pots, on the switches and faders. Should I lift the panels up and get to the parts that way or should I turn the whole thing upside down and lift of the panels that make up the bottom. Just wondering what is the best way to access the inside.

I have the owners manual but it does not advise on the best way to clean the inside. The many exploded diagrams give good hints on how to open it up. But I'm just wanting to know if I should tilt up the top panels and clean them that way or turn the whole thing over and take off the bottom panels.

Does the manual say anything at all about opening it up and messing around inside?

Diggy - yes, there is page showing how to lift up a top panel to get to a certain part...so I was going to try that first unless some one more familiar with this particular board advised differently.

Diggy, yes, I have the complete manual - I can tell it is complete by looking at the page numbers/table of contents and index. It has schematics for every part in the board.

If it tells you how to gain access to the pots and faders, that's where you need to get in to clean it.

OK, I figured it out. You tilt back the meter bridge and lift up the panels. Removing each circuit board strips from the panel is A LOT of work. I was able to spray contact cleaner into a lot of pots and switches so I feel pretty good. I also replace the lamps in the meters.
