I got these neutrik xlr cables for a cheap price but the smell is so strong. I washed it once thru hot water with clothe washing detergent. Seems to help a bit but it's still there. Any tips?

I'd try methylated spirits or something like that that will dissolve oils... do a test one first though, in case.

You need an anti-static foam cleaner readily available from all good electronics suppliers such as RS components and Maplin here.
Goes under the trade name of Ambersil. Also works well on guitar amp cabs and monitor screens. If you suffer shocks after walking across a carpet a once a day shoe treatment will stop the "Owws!"

Dave.

Start smoking and you'll never be bothered by cigarette smell ever again. :thumbs up:

When I was a bartender, we cleaned smoke crud (and I mean crud) off the walls with a simple one part vinegar to 10 parts water mixture. Cheap and effective. As long as your cables are not damaged and you keep the tips out, you should be able to make a couple gallons and hold them under and let them soak and then just wipe the crud off with a white towel.
