How to change KEY of a sample? What sample notes can i use in Em?

Hi, New here. I always use G sample for a G chord. But i found that notes in other chord can also be played on a G chord Pad. I am bad at theory. Would be great if you post a chart too in reply. Thanks.

HI there, you're probably in the wrong place to ask - this is a forum about doing music recording at home. Your question would seem to be about some type of sampling equipment (maybe)?

Key of G major: G A B C D E F# The relative minor key of Em is the same notes (but there are other standard minor keys, as well).

If, by chance, you're talking about shifting the musical pitch of an audio sample, your DAW (if you have one) may have a function for that. But if you apply a given shift to an entire audio track, it will change the musical key but not the type of chord-- e.g., lowering an audio track by a minor third will transpose the key of G major to the key of E major, since E is a minor third below G. If you wanted to transpose an audio track from G major to E minor, you would need to shift some of the notes one semitone more than the others-- e.g., the B notes would need to be lowered by a major third so they become G notes rather than G#s.

I also think you are posting in the wrong forum, but not for the same reasons as mjbphotos. Your question is more related to music theory than to recording. You can do a web search for chords, triads and scales. That should get yo want you want.

If you want other than a G sample for a G chord, you can use a D sample or a B sample. For Em, use E, G or B.
