OK, lets say I have a clean guitar track recorded in cubase. Then I add some metal distortion via guitar rig and some delay effect with another vst plugin. Is it possible to merge audio track and vst effects permanently so that the audio file on my hard drive is affected? In this particular case, if I exit cubase and search for that guitar track on my hard drive and open it, I would like to find guitar sound with distortion and delay added.

Uhm, no its not quite. Freezing makes a new audio file, it doesnt do changes to the original file. You can always unfreeze and then it deletes the freeze file and uses again the original.

I think you just want to export that track to audio.

If I remember right, the freezefiles have gaps removed, so you can't use those outside cubase if there is silent parts in it.
