How terribly bad do I sing?

No really, this is the first time I was behind the microphone. NEVER SUNG BEFORE, and I hate it, other people say it's not THAT bad. Are they talking bullshit or is it not so disgusting that you'll give me right to have a huge fright for microphones in the future? Really, I'm not exagerating about the way I consider it, it's like a huge effort for me to make this publically.. :D

Hear it yourself. The cover is cheesy, can you maybe give me some advice on the mix? Thanks again.

NWNCpunkcover

Damn that's geocities bitching about data transfer exceeding or something. It will work within half an hour, but I'll try to get it on NWR.

It's called NWNCpunk (that's lame already..)

WARNING: For not blowing up your speakers; the first 15 seconds are quite softer (in volume) than the rest.. Beware & excuse me!

I'm just on some cheap phones at work but the thing that comes to me is crank those vocals UP. At about .33 a guitar comes in and seems to be overbearing at least in my phones. Gets worse on a later break.

Turn the guitar way down and turn the vocal up way up

Interesting song

Interesting choice of tune to cover! I like the idea, but yeah, turn them vox up! And, is it me or is the bass out of tune a little? I mainly hear it on the 4th note in each riff where it drops down to the IV chord.

Chris

Well I am no authority on vocals so I won't comment on them except to repeat what the rest has said and bring them up a bit. They seem to be burried and it does get a little worse later on in the song..

The other stuff sounds fine. I really like the keys in this!

No doubt, to be honest it's a cheap Fenix bass with 3 strings lend from my band's bassplayer because I'm no bassplayer or guitarplayer at all, my lack of tuning experience and exagerated stringbending have unevitably resulted in what you hear..
The guitar's brand is even funnier; Amuse.
Only the drums, mics and elec. piano have some decent quality, for that are the only thing I can play 'decently'.

How am i supposed to know? I can't even hear you!!!:D

agreed, vox up, git's down......sound's pretty damn good though!

thank's, man!

Peace

I think we must have listened to different songs

It's called NWNCpunk :D About the pretty damn good thing; yeah I think he heard another one :D:D

NO, it was the same song......The sound's pretty good comment, is what i could hear underneath the low vox and loud git's. It has potential in other word's.......i'll clarify next time:rolleyes:

If you think you can't sing but you do it anyway, do it convincingly. (Sid Vicious - My Way :) but it wasn't as bad as that). You're hiding your voice a bit too much behind effects.
Cool twist to a reggae song, nicely done especially if you can't play guitar or bass like you claim.

I think a 19 dollar guitar tuner would help large parts of it. I'm not sure what helps the BGV's.

But the rhythm locked into a pretty good groove toward the end.

I hear your biggest problem, It's your confidence.

From what I could hear, your voice is well suited for this type of music.

I do hear a few places where you fall off pitch slightly.

Don't let that discourage you though, just keep tracking the lead until it sounds all in key.

Even the best of singers can run into pitch problems while recording.

Good luck

Sean

I like the tone of your voice. It's got a great rock tone to it. It fit this song perfectly. The song rocked. I liked that a ton.

Yeah there is some pitchiness. I'd recommend a few things... First is practice. If you never tried before, you can't expect to turn in a pro performance. Your vocal tone is there, so I think you can eventually do it. Second, I'd recommend not listening to this song for a couple of weeks and then come back to it. The pitchiness may very well jump right out at you. Third, when tracking sometimes it's easier to sing if you mute some of the louder tracks. I always record vocals last - or at least after the rhythm guits and bass. Sometimes with all that stuff blaring in the phones it hurts your ability to find your pitch.

So don't be afraid of the mic. Practice.
