How often do latency and dropouts...

How often do latency and dropouts bite you in the arse?

Is buffer size only a problem when installing a new soundcard, or constant concerns which always must be compensated for?
Does the buffer size always need to be adjusted as track count grows, or is it dependant upon how many tracks you are recording simultaneously, or none of the above? :confused:
 
meh, it can be sketchy at certain times to get it right. once i have mine set up, it works for most of my purposes. I tend to loose latency and play it safe by increasing the buffer size. hardware monitoring makes this possible.
 
Allow me to demonstrate my total ignorance by asking, what is "hardware monitoring"?
Are you referring to an external device of some sort (I'm guessing you are not)?

Please elaborate...? :confused:
