Will mastering really make a diffrence in this short track? Thank You!! Wherewould be a good place to get it mastered?

PLEASE don't take this as an "audition" - I just whipped the track through a few paces real quick (3 minutes of adjustments TOPS after a 12-hour day of killing my ears - So, I shouldn't be doing this anyway right now).
This is only to give you an idea on things. If you play this file:
The 1st and 3rd of four sets is the original - The 2nd and 4th are "speed mastered" - Keep in mind that the original track is terribly overcompressed and quite distorted - These problems hit you right in the face when being mastered. So, it's even easier to hear the distortion on 2 & 4. However, if there was no distortion and the track wasn't squished, the outcome would be amazingly different to be sure...
In other words, yes, you should have your tracks mastered. REMIX them first without the compression and limiting on the buss and send them somewhere to be mastered.
I might know a place if you don't know any... ;-)

Oh ma..I see how that can really brighten things up. I've cleaned it up alot today. You might be seein me again when the cd's done!!

Brighter, yes. However, I made no EQ adjustments... Not with an EQ, anyway...
And sure, I'd be happy to hear from you when the CD's done.
Oh, but try to ease up on the compression a bit maybe... Once a mix is compressed as a whole, it's pretty difficult to do much of anything with it without seriously compromising the final result.

The only thing really compressed was the kick/snare track. Everthing else was pretty light on the compression. That was just a straight mixdown from cubase sx. Nothing done to the stereo tracks

Could be that the overall level was clipped... Just something to watch for...
