If you have a 4 channel mixer, is there any sense having a 2 in-2 out soundcard? Should I pay the extra money for a 4 analog in/out soundcard?

The Echo Gina looks like a great card at a great price, but again, only 2 inputs...seems silly to order that 4 channel mixer...or am I missing something completely?

Welcome!

I think the answer to this would depend on exactly what you're trying to accomplish. Are you multitracking more than one instrument at a time? In order to use the 4 track as a 4 track to the computer, it must have a way to send the 4 tracks separately. Make sure of this first. Most 4 track mixers I've used only give a stereo output, but that's just my experience. If you only intend to record one instrument at a time this does not matter. The 4 track can go to a stereo soundcard. More details may help to get the question answered. Sorry if this doesn't help, good luck :D

from a 4 channel mixer your probably only going to be able to send out a Left and Right signal to the inputs on the soundcard. So it really wouldn't be worth it unless you get another mixer so you can get 4 inputs into the sound card

If you do decide to go for a 44 or 66 though, you need to know if your mixer has insert points on it so that you can directly send each channel seperatly to the soundcard. Chances are, your mixer only has a stereo out and you may need to get a new mixer if you want to record all 4 tracks at once.
