Hi i have the delta 1010lt but would it be possible to add more than 1 of the soundcards into my pc. to allow me to record twice as many inputs as just the 1 delta gives me. My pc used to run vista but i put xp on for more effiencey and speed. Would this harm my computer or is it not possible anyway. Even on the best computers with atleast 3gb ram etc would this be possible. Thanks

i always wondered that. if you notice in the delta control panel, theres slots for additional soundcards. so i dont really know. i would just buy a sound card that has lightpipe out, then you could just get the behringer ada unit for 100 bucks and thats 8 additional channels you could simultaneously record.

I think you can get up to 4 delta 1010lts in your computer if you have enough slots in there. Make sure though your power supply in your computer is up to snuff if you do this. If you got a 300Watt amp, you might experience strange and unexplained crashes. I would definitely upgrade it to a 500W or more.

Having said that, if I were you, I wouldn't spend money on more Delta's. I'd upgrade them to a better quality interface.

thanks alot well i want to multirecord you see, being able to select which inputs to record from and that, im just wondering if it would clash if i put another delta in, and would i need to install the software and drivers again or would it be compatible due to the fact the other delta is already installed etc thanks

you can put up to 4 of them in one PC....I have 2 Delta 1010's...the rack mount version, and they used to be in the same PC for 16 analog ins.....worked great.....

I use a Delta 1010LT and a Delta 44 at the same time without any problems at all ...

I had 3 rackmount 1010's stacked only a few years back for 24 i/o looking back they were f**king garbage ar far as audio fidelity goes.

As for recomendations in that price range, I really wouldn't know these days. I ditched the analog console + outboard processing route and went with a Yamaha N12 and 3 UAD cards. I now spend my time recording and mixing bands instead of troubleshooting my system.

Agreed...with that many input/output interface channels, why not simply mix in the PC rather than messing with outboard analog mixing...not that it can't be done. I'd look at a controller and a software solution instead. That's just me...

I wouldn't. I'd rather sacrifice the number of inputs, but have a better quality soundcard.

Strongly agreed. Do an out-of-the-box mix with Delta hardware and quality will suffer considerably. The DA conversion is woefully inadequate, IMHO, and the AD isn't that great, either. Running through that a second time is just going to make things quite a bit worse....

I just got a private message from the OP. If I read his message correctly, seems his intent is to use the individual channel outs on the mixer to send to the interface card. In effect, not doing outboard mixing at all. Sounds to me like he's simply going to use his Behringer mixer channel outs as descrete preamps.

I'd like to get clarification on this and more detail on his/her intent.

I'd agree with all the comments regarding the "less than state of the art" quality of the 1010 cards but, I would contend that for a chap on a budget and with realistic expectations, the card is still a viable device. One certainly could do a lot worse.

Peace, love and all that happiness stuff...

Garbage in / garbage out then ... the 1010 shouldn't be too much of a dissapointment

Now now...we all gotta start somewhere and budget seems to be the theme here. I agree in general that buy smart buy once but when first starting out, some lessons are learned the hardway. Who knows, this may be a completely satisfying set up for his/her application. We should answer the questions and offer advice.

Better would be a dandy firewire solution and a tasty controller with some nice external pre's (fewer but better) but this guy is talking 200 L max (sorry, don't have the squiggly "L").

Anyways, as always I throw love peace and all that happiness shit at you...there...take that! :)
