What kinda beat gear are you using?

Looking at your setup it I would suggest a Mackie 1604 instead of the 1402. That is if your budget will allow it. Reason being is that it appears you are setting up for the long haul. You'll get the 2 extra channels and enough routing options to carry you into the next century.

I personally would buy a cheaper compressor and use that dough to up the mixer to a 1604. But that really depends your midi gear and other music hardware. If you are using a lot of hardware or planning on using hardware like turntables and such then you'll probably want the extra 2 ins and routing options.

Good luck. Peace.

By the way I use a 1604 and can record 4 tracks from the mixer at once. Stuff like a stereo beat mix and 2 vocal tracks at the same time. Just kinda neat when freestylin songs. I don't think it can be done with a 1402.

I don't think the baby bottle is the mic you want. I think you would be better off getting some different mics. How about one of these:

This mic was used for vocals on Michael Jackson's thriller album (among others) and is considered a classic by many. Also it will help cut down on the room sound you would get by recording with a condensor.

Since you'll have a little left over get one of these too.

Between these two mics you'll be able to get a lot of good useable sounds. Not to mention that as you expand your studio you'll still be able to use these mics as they are very multi-purpose.

The baby bottle tends to be less forgiving and is only suited to some peoples voices. Although it looks cool, I really don't hear of it being regarded as nicely as these two mics, especially the c1.

Do a search and read some of the posts regarding the c1. Everyone loves this mic. Same is true for the SM7b.
