How is the Ion IED01 Module?

The Ion IED01 Digital Drum Kit just went on clearance in my local Super Target for $57 and I'm interested in purchasing it just to use the included iDM02 module. I know that the hardware, pedals, and pads are crap so I'm planning on building some home-modded pads to use with the module if it's any good. I'm just curious if the "brain" is decent enough to work with some home-made pads sporting piezos and such just to play around with at home. I'm going to build my own rackmount and use a real kick pedal with a home made kick pad so I don't have the crappy pad issues everyone is talking about. For $57 I just don't want to pass this up...

I read that the Ion iDM02 Module is a modded Alesis SR-16 Drum Machine that has 1/8th line inputs for the triggers within the drum pads FYI..

i wish my target had this for that cheap

Scratch that idea.. FML. I didn't have the money and won't have the money until tomorrow but they're gone... All sold out at all the stores in Phoenix. It's even the store I work at and they wouldn't hold it for me yesterday. I'm pissed.. Oh well I guess I will just look into the Alesis Trigger I/O.. Looks pretty nice on youtube for triggering software based samples (which I have tonnnnns of).
