What are the drawbacks of the akai dps12 is it good for recording a live band. i was thinking about the adat studio pack but the tapes are exspensive and there is a lot of matenance.

Salvadore,

I have had my Dps for about six months. I am fairly new to digital recording so I really can't compare the Dps to other recorders. I can however, tell you that I am very satisfied with my Dps. I have heard a lot of people say that they use thier Dps for live recording, and get very good results. The bigest problem with the Dps is the effects are hard to use. I can do it, but it still is a hassle for me. That is the only drawback I can see, in my newbie opinion. Otherwise, I am very happy with it.

Rgrds,
Dave

I just recently picked up a used dps for cheap and so far, It's pretty cool. However, like Dave said, the effects are kind of a pain.
I havn't used the dps in a live application yet so I can't really speak to how well it performs, but editing is pretty straight forward, so I imagine polishing up a live recording would be fairly easy.
