How good is Garage Band Software????

I'm going to buy some software but don't know what to buy. Will Garage Band do everything that other programs will do. What are pros and cons?
Thanks for any input you can offer. I'll be using a Mac G5
 
What other programs? What do you want to do? Are you looking to record audio? How many tracks at any given time? MIDI? Do you need the backing features/loops Garage Band has?

Are we supposed to just read your mind?

Nobody can give good advice if you don't provide any information as far as what your needs are.
 
Sorry, brzilian. I want to use my keyboard for midi and I want to record vocals and maybe guitar and mix, add effects use some virtual instruments and burn to CD for high quality demos. I will be using a Tascam US-122 that is a Audio/Midi interface with a Mac G5. What can I expect to get out of this setup with Garage Band? Would some other program in that price range be better? As far a number of tracks I'm not even sure of the implications of that. I'm totally new at this so be gentle.
