Ok a few things to be known
1. Its a mixtape mix
2. The vocals are my main concern as with any mixtape mix

So let me hear your opinions fam

thanks in advance for the feedback

1. Your link doesn't work for me.

2. You should post this in the MP3 clinic.

3. Without even hearing it...I can tell you it needs some cowbell...or more cowbell.

:)

Oh...excuse my ignorance...but what's a "mixtape mix"...???
Never heard that expression before.

I like the mix. What did u do I like the way the vocals are set in there. Did u keep drake in tht hook while u were singin it, it sounded good. If you don't mind me asking what did you use when u mixed. Ah an I'm tryna make a remix to this song to haha. Rock citys remix is pretty good

no prob I'll explain

A mixtape mix is basically a mix that sounds "good enough" to be listened to. doesn't have to have the quality touch of a finished record. I posted it in here because i needed critiquing but i will post in the clinic or link to the clinic. Its a lil hard to explain because my mix setup is a lil complicated but lately Ive been keeping my tracking compressor (the digi stock comp) on instead of taking it off wen i start mixing a project then I'll eq which unfortunately for the sake of this conversation changes quite often but i do like to use the SSL eq to do my cuts to clean up the vocal.

Then I have found myself using the SSL Buss Comp on my main vocal buss because it has this tone/sound that just captures me for some odd reason. I have plenty of other compressors but this one as of lately is becoming my go to about my Rcomp. Then if need be i'll put another eq in there to liven the vocals up since i may hav cut out some other frequencies in the process. Then last but not least a de-esser in various amounts. But the main thing ive learned in all my vocal processing is automation is your friend. You have an unsitely breath gong on automate the volume on all the offending breathes. The esses are just too over bearing and a de-esser is taking to much of a needed frequency out then automate the volume to lower on those breathes so the de-esser is either not needed or doesn't work so hard. That is the biggest secret i can give because its guaranteed to work :D

i really like the track and vocals, but i dont really have a fine tuned ear to know all the fine points.

ON another note, how did you produce the track? How did you make the drums, the synths and the string samples?

1st:
- it'sNot my musical style
- quite a beginner in mixing (mainly acoustic projects)

but here's my 2cts,

I have no specific problem with the voices.

The complaints is that the whole thing is a little bit dry. The different elements are not placed in the sound space. For exemple, IMHO the violin riff at the begining should have more reverb so that they are put at the back.

I am all but "reverb man", I like dry sound but reverb with pan hep segregating the different elements in a mix.

That was my only small critic on this mix which is good for a mixtape.

well let me be more specific lol
as mixtapes go not every song on there is a fully mixed production in the sense that the music in this particular song was already mixed for another artist (you may have heard of him his names Drake lol). So my main question was more or less how well do the vocals sit in the mix. I apologize for any confusion

wat are u using for recording.

wat are u using for recording. do u charge cuz i need some help. my s's are 2 high & de esser dont work.

Then I have found myself using the SSL Buss Comp on my main vocal buss because it has this tone/sound that just captures me for some odd reason.

I work for a high end recording/mix studio assistant engineering and i have seen some really big name producers and engineers do this exact thing. I love the sound that comes out of that.

thats wat i said

it sounds amazing and its not even something that u have to tweak like crazy to get a great sound with
