How do you use compression?

I am currently running adobe audition 1.5 because the computer I am using cant really handle anything else. Its not too bad though but i cant figure out a good way to do compression on music besidese going through every single individual line of music and adjusting the vocalist levels. Anyone out there use audition or have any other tips for me
 
In Audition, press [F1], then select "Amplitude" from the menu, followed by "Dynamics Processing" from the resulting sub-menu.

na thanks anyway ill try out the dynamic processing first
