maybe a stupid question but how do i thread the tape

thanks!

There is a Tascam forum here.

I'm sure you'd get a much more better response over there...

There should be a small slot to insert a small part of the tape. Feed about 1/2" of tape into that slot. Then by hand forward the reel until the tape circles and covers the feed you placed in the slop.Turn the reel a couple more times to make certain the ffed is being held secure and then you can use the auto feed to forward the tape.

If there is not a slot, you simply hold the tape "feed" until you can manunnual forward the rrel to secure the feed".

It may seem a little hard at first (like threading a needle or rolling a joint), but after you do it a few times you'll find a technique that works for you.

With the supply reel mounted on the left, and with tape spooling off the left side of the reel as it turns CCW,...

[tape travel in normal play is from left to right]:...

Thread tape DOWN and UNDER the LEFT tension roller,...

UP and OVER the LEFT idler roller,...

UNDER the tape guides and headstack,... (remember to open the RFI shield on the head assembly),..

BETWEEN the CAPSTAN and PINCH ROLLER,...

OVER the TACH ROLLER,...

UNDER the RIGHT tension roller,...

& spool tape UP and onto the takeup reel, while turning it in a CCW direction.

;)
