How Do You Record? Copy/Paste?

Hi everyone. I'm new here and have some recording experience, but always looking for new tips! Now my question... In the past, I did all my recording on my PC. Now that I have the MR-8, I thought I would use it for what it's worth. I haven't really played around with copy/paste, so I was wondering how people record their songs? What I have been known to do is just record each part as I came to it's point in the song. However, since a lot of the material gets repeated (i.e. chorus, verses), I don't want to have to go through the hassle of re-recording those parts. I was wondering if anyone could share their tips on how I would start off with copy/paste? Do I start recording immediately the minute I press record to shy away from overlapping parts when I want to copy? This is so confusing, lol! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Enrique welcome to the forum!

The way I record is to just do one track at a time and punch in (or out) as I go along.

You can utilize the copay and paste funtion, but your timing has to be pretty good since you have to mark you copy paramaters and you copy insert point by hiting Locate A at just the right second etc.

I tried to copy a chorus I sang on a song a while back and no matter how many times I tried it, it still sounded like a millisecond off. I guess it depends how picky you are.

My best advice is to give the copying and pasting a try and see if you like it. If you do it correctly (again it depends on your timing).

Look on pages 70-76 in the manual to copy/paste parts. Once you give it a try it is really quite simple to do.

Good luck and let us know how it works out for ya or if you have any more questions.
