How do you go about mixing...?

I was just wondering about when you have multiple songs to work on. Is it a better idea to go through and do all of the drums first, then guitars, etc, so you remember all of the eq cuts/compression or any other effects to make the songs all more similar, or is it a better idea to do each song one by one?

Each song is gonna be different, so it's best to mix each song one by one.

I agree with dobro.

Howevr if I'm working on a demo project where there will be multiple songs which I need to have a uniform feel I burn a CD of the first song mixed and play it back as a reference (the same way many people use a Steely Dan (or whoever) CD for reference.

mix one song at a time.

other wise, all your drums may end up sounding the same which can sound tedious for the end listener. if possible, dont track all the drums to a 10 songs in one session, again, they'll just sound the same throughout the whole album. (just listen to Saves the Day's album 'Stay What You Are'.).

take it a song at a time, and you'll probably be more creative with ideas, instead of using the same idea across all the songs.

If you're doing repetitive type music that uses the same tempo, instrument selection, then it probably makes sense to try to get the same sound for each tune, but personally I treat each song as it's own project. Each with it's own style, sound, dynamics, etc. So I would 100% mix each song seprately.
