How do you export wavs from from Cool edit Pro 2 to a Alesis fireport ? All suggestions, and info. appreciated

I'm not sure what an Alesis Fireport is. But, 2 ideas:
1) When you save a .wav file, you want to know what folder you're saving to. Know this, and then when you're ready to send a file to another destination, you simply go to the folder, find the file, highlight it and send it to the Alesis.

2) Is this a hardware device, like a soundcard (Sounds like it, pardon my lack of 'market-savvy'!)? Assign the output from the track containing the desired .wav file to the Alesis, which will appear in the list of available playback devices in Cool Edit.
Am I in the neighborhood here?

Thanks your first choice was correct I pretty new to PC,wasn't sure if it save a file or not. I'll try looking for it some wheres on my PC then "maybe" I'll figure out how to load it into the Alesis fireprt which supposed to export and inport the wav files into my Alesis HD24 recordier after I edit the wavforums in CE 2,

If the Alesis is hooked-up to your PC, it's name should appear in the Audio Devices in CEP. But I don't know what kind of relationship is represented between the two things.
You can use Windows Explorer to find the file: Highlight the file once you've found it, then hit "Copy To". A window will then pop up, with all the locations in your PC, including things like CD Drive, etc., and one of these locations could be the Alesis. Click on the Alesis in the window, and the file will be copied to that location. Best I got, but this is one way you can move files around between devices.
Managing your files is half the battle, and it's own skill besides!

All transfers between the HD24 and the host computer with a Fireport hooked up have to be made through the propietary software, FSTconnect. If you have the Fireport, then you have the software. If you haven't installed the software on the host computer, then do so. Once you do, you can start the software and hook up your Fireport w/hard drive attached and turn it on. It will appear in the "Drive" section of the FSTconnect screen.
From there, it's just a matter of selecting the song and the track numbers of those songs you want to transfer the edited wave files into. Remember, though, that it'll overwrite any files that are already there--a warning screen will pop up to remind you. If you want to keep the original files on the HD, then create a new song and bring all the edited files into that song.
On the top, righthand part of the FST screen, there are two tabs. Selecting "adat FST --> PC" will EXPORT the files to another drive connected to the host computer and selecting "PC --> adat FST" will IMPORT the files into the HD24 drive. You can use drop-down menus (Browse) to select the directories and files you want to use. Once you have that set up, it's just a matter of hitting the "import" or "export" button in the lower righthand corner of the screen.

Thank you guys so much I'm still learning on PC I didn't know that you had to load the Alesis software program which I don't have at the moment. So I guess I need to buy a copy from Alesis so I'll be able to use the fireport to transfer HD files over to CEP then edit the files then send it back thru the fireport ,which would have the edit trax on the HD drive and not the PC drive.

I had misplaced my FSTconnect CD once and had to send them a copy of my original purchase receipt to get another. They didn't even have a way for me to download it off the net once I had proven my purchase. I had to wait for the CD to come via mail. Maybe that's changed now, but just thought I'd give you a heads-up.
Yep, but it's very fast. I do this a lot because I mix through an analog board but do my editing using software (PT, Adobe Audition, and Wavelab).

I guess I'll have to buy a new fireport, since this was a used package deal I bought off from a local studio I bought the HD24 and Fireport, After a phone call the guy I got it from couldn't find the software for the fireport, so looks like I need software for it and I don't have the original receit for the fireport 
I bought as is so I guess I gotta save up.

Don't throw in the towel just yet. Give Alesis a call and explain how you acquired the HD24 and Fireport and perhaps they'll send you a copy if you give them the serial number of the Fireport.
