i do alot of rap and metal style rap, i yell ALOT but latly ive lost my voice... it hasent been the same:confused:

ive been stressing my vocals with my throat like hardcore and now its hard to breath lol, any tips on how to yell loud and not stress your throat and be able to make a wicked sounding voice??

Try youtubing "zen of screaming." The same basic rules that apply to proper singing technique also apply to screaming.

I'm curious....if this is something you do, how do you generally mix screamo vocals? I have to do this soon, and I figured I'd double track the main scream and have him do a sort of high pitched whisper track too to blend in. I don't know...it may all sound like twelve pounds of ass.

screaming vocals are pretty much like mixing any clean vocals just be cautious and record them properly most of the time a double track is all thats necessary, however for high or low screams and different types of screams record them separately as it can be right pain later on when you realize the dynamic differences

Thanks...I usually look forward to new musical challenges. I'm kind of not looking forward to this one. Seems like doubling will be an absolute necessity, and if any reverb is used, it probably needs to be very minimal with almost no decay. I also see some compressor slamming of screams in my immediate future, lol.

Use a stand in voice over pro. :D

lol...oh you can rest assured I won't be doing any screamo vocals...but my kid is into that stuff, and he's decided to take a pop song and do a screamo cover of it. Problem is that his squeaky high 13 year old voice sounds like a cat getting run over by a lawnmower when he screams. He's looking to me to bring the "magic" of production to the table....poor kid

with this compression is your best friend lol and use the tiniest bit of distortion should help . i have the joy of doing mostly screamo/ metal bands and aslong as your vocalist is tight and can nail those double tracks you can get some good results
