what's up fam

i bought a Akai MPD16 USB/MIDI Pad Control to play my drum tracks instead of banging the keys on my board
There has been a slight improvement in sound by i'm still not hearing what i want
i see that one can download drum samples for free or for a fee
so now my question is after you download the samples
How do you bring them into your project
is there a way i can play the samples with my pad

Thank you for your help

I'm not sure on *EXACTLY* how to do it, but here's the gist of it...

Play your Akai pad and record it as a MIDI track or whatnot, however you do that. Take that MIDI track and drop it into some sort of MIDI triggering program. They're available.. )go to www.hitsquad.com, go to software, find whatever platform you're using, and go to Drum Software, for starters...) Then, if you have your selected sample, say, for the snare track... and you just recorded a snare track... in the midi triggering program, associate that sample with the midi track you just recorded. Rinse, repeat for other tracks. heh.

These triggering programs are available as either standalone apps, or plugins, say, as VST plugins. Snoop around, you'll find a way. Good luck!

In the meantime... I'm gonna' go back to scrounging around for a dirt-cheap D4 drum module or something like it.

are Fruity loops and BATTERY 1.01 kind of the same programs?
because i want to be able to load samples collected on the internet and create my own drum kit(s) which i would like to be able to play from my pad

No. Fruity Loops is a sequencer with a bunch of other functionality built in. It sounds like what you want is Battery. I use Battery via my six padded Pintech unit and my Alesis DM5 and it works pretty good.

i'm thinking of doing something similar
but what about other drum samples besides the ones that came with battery
do you have to have another program to access those soundd

thanks

You can import any wav file into Battery, as far as I can tell.
