how do i use my powered mixer

I have an 8 channel fender powered mixer, i also have two soundcards one is the maxis isis soundcard with daughter card the other is an sblive, i have a pentium III 750mghz plus i use cool edit pro, my problem is that i cant seem to get the differance in my finished cds of true sound and the sound coming from my speakers. it all sounds great and mixed but when i burn it and listen to my work through a car stereo or a stereo system it doesnt sound at all like it did. what am i doing wrong? i have a geo output on the mixer which when im in that disables any equing directly from the mixer. the sound is great its the true sound??>thats what i think untill i burn the music and it sounds totaly diff. any suggestions, lets talk.

Well, almost without a doubt I think that its the fact that U aren't using recordin monitors. Mixin on a normal set of speakers will tend to give U horrible results when U play the CD on a differnt set of speakers. So U might think about investing into some monitors(cause even if U don't do a lot of mixin, they sound real sweet, U hear every detail).
