how do i use guitar rig in cubase - live?

i'm pluggin my guitar straight into my edirol fa101 and i'm recording on cubase sx 2.2. wot i want to do is basically play thru guitar rig so it records the effects i choose.however,i can only record just a plain signal from my guitar then add the effects etc after and its not very useful 4 delays etc.anyone know how i can do this?
 
Well... You could turn on the monitoring...
And route the output signal back into another track...
I am not too sure what the big deal is
With recording a clean track then applying effects
You can still monitor while recording
So you can hear the effects while playing...
 
i've turned monitoring on but i still cant hear the effects whilst playing. when i open the plugin, i get no input or output signal showing on the meters!
help!
