Whats up everyone?...I have a roland vs 880ex, ensoniq zr-76 and Cakewalk Pro Audio 9 and I would like to record vocals by going through the vs 880 into cakewalk.....How do I configure, connect, control and all that good stuff with this equipment??? What do I need in order to make this possible? How do I connect and what type of settings must everything be on...Could someone please explain this in as much detail as possible for me...THANKS IN ADVANCE.

Your computer needs a soundcard (obviously). ;)

Just buy the cables you need to connect the mic to the VS880 and the VS880 to your computer. :)

"Experimente" is a word that springs to mind... ;)

What type cables?

Okay ...I have a soundcard and I am going to get a proffesional one later but what cables do I need to connect them so that my keyboard, the vs880 and the computer are all connected together?....Also I was curious as to know that if I use cakewalk to record using the vs 880 will the vs880 recognize the automations and settings whenever the song is loaded on cakewalk.

What cables? That I really don't know because I don't know what the type of connectors on your equipment.

And the automation... I don't know. Has the vs880 motorized faders?

okayyyy...

Okay check this.....forget about the cables?......Here -- explain these: The roland has a SCSI(what can I do with it?)...it also has an Optical out(What can I do with it?)...and also has midi cables(What can I do with those?) I wanna basically use the Roland as a big MIC PREAMP....how would i go about doing that.

SCSI-connector: Can be used to connect the VS880 to an external harddrive, nothing more.

Optical out: Connect the VS880 to a unit with an optical in, such as minidisk, or a computer soundcard (if the soundcard supports it)

MIDI-connectors: Either to record MIDI on the VS880, or to record fadermovements in PA9. I don't think the faders will move during playback, though...

To use the VS880 as a mic.preamp: Connect the mics to the VS880, adjust the volume, connect the VS880's main outs to the computer and hit record in PA9.

:)
