This may sound like a stupid question but I'm a newbie when it comes to condenser mics. I just purchased a Studio Projects C1 condenser and I love it. My question is how do I position the shockmount? When I stick it on the mic stand, I don't know if I'm putting it on upside down or not. The C1 fits in both ways but I'm sure there's a right way to do it. I've tried to look for pics of other people's C1's but can't find any. If you could let me know how to do it, I'd appreciate it or post pics if you have any. Thanks for all your help...

As my Great-Aunt Hildy used to say, "you can stick it in either way." Tradition would indicate that the capsule of the mic is on the side of the mount where the spring clamp is, but the sad truth is, it doesn't make a rat's ass bit of difference. As long as the mic is secure, but with freedom to move elastically, and the diaphragm isn't blocked by some part of the shock mount, it should work fine. BTW, you think too much for recording. Buy a Lava Lamp, and look at it until the desire passes.-Richie
