How do I play soundfont files?

I have tons of great free .sf2 files.

1. What programs can I use to play them?

2. Do I need some sort of MIDI device? Can't I just use a piano roll like in fruityloops to play them?

Do any of these programs control them? fruity loops, acid pro, sonar, cakewalk, cubase, logic??????? I have all those but dunno how to use these things!

Well, the most common way is to use a MIDI sequencer. I use a Soundblaster Live 5.1 ($30) and Cakewalk for scoring/playing back MIDI sequences using soundfonts. It works very well.
