I am using the Omnistudio USB by M-Audio

here is the unit

and i just bought an ashly CL100 compressor/limiter

here is the link to the manual for the compressor

i want to compress my vocals going in to my pc.

Plug the interface's fx send to the inputs on the compressor. The fx send on your interface is a stereo TRS jack, so you'll need either a TRS input on the compressor, or more commonly, a splitter cable that converts the TRS to 2 standard mono 1/4" instrument cables. Plug the outputs of the compressor into the fx return, and use fx send levels to mix between dry and wet signals.

Thanks alot! and what if i want to add a dbx 263x de-esser which i also picked up for like 20 bucks into the signal chain. How can i add it in? does it go after the compressor?

I just asked about ordering your fx chain in another thread:

The advice I got back, which makes sense, is to handle corrective processes first, right before dynamics. So I'd put your de-esser in front of your compressor. I think compressed siblance would be harder to handle b/c the freq spikes would be less defined.

wow great, thanks alot for you help! I really appreciate it
