i just bought a computer which has no soundcard.

im considering buying either the presonus firebox or Inspire...as my interface/soundcard.

question is i also want to hook up a midi keyboard.
is this possible or do i need an interface with midi connections.

wanting to use the keyboard to trigger piano/drums/effects sounds etc.

any advice appreciated
cheers in advance.

The Presonus Inspire has no midi connections at all.

After you buy the Firebox --- which is my recommendation for the near future as the best value for your money --- either use a spare USB port if you get a controller with a USB interface or the midi in of the Firebox if you get an older one without a USB interface.

thanks for that, i didnt know there were keyboards with usb connections...

that makes it all easier then.
will i run into problems with the presonus using the firewire and the keyboard using the USB port?

the m-audio keyboards look pretty cool.

Not likely. I have an older Oxygen 8 that happily coexists on the same system as my Firebox. If I had it to do over I'd splash out the extra $20 or so and get the Radium 61 instead...
