I finally got my scanner to work and would like to show some pics of my setup but c the pictures are too big.

How do I get them under 65K???

-mike

Scanned pictures are inherently large. Using a digital camera will help minimize that file size, but barring that try this:

1.) Open the picture in "Paint".

2.) "Save As" a jpeg type file (if it isn't already)

3.) From the pull down menu in "Paint" choose "Image"

4.) Select "Stretch/Skew"

5.) Under Stretch / Horizontal type 50%

6.) Under Stretch / Vertical type 50%

7.) Save

That will reduce the actual SIZE of the PICTURE as well as reducing the file size.

any picture under 65k will not have a lot of clarity to it...why can't you keep the file larger?

Well, there's a finite amount of bandwidth and space on Dragon's server.

This file is 40kb. Now, I wouldn't use it in a published document, but for getting your idea across, on the web, it's pretty darn good.

Thanks......

.....I accidentally removed Paint...but I'm sure I can apply the same idea with my scanner software.

Thanks much.

XP Power Toys

There's a great image resizer for XP with Power toys
right here
Just look for Image resizer.

I use it to do batch resizing for posting images to pbase.

Danke, Mike.....

I am still chugging along on Windows 98 but I went to that section from your link and am trying out some different stuff.

I appreciate it.

Actually, my main PC (recording and etc) is using 98 as well - maybe I'll have to check that link out again for 98 power toys !

Thanks for the info, mike.

That's weird, it feels like I'm talking to myself... :D

No problem, Mike.
Oh...wait... you weren't talking to me were you?
Damn. That IS weird.

:D

I wonder if sae's name is Mike, too ?

If not, he's from Canada, so that's all right... :D

Reminds me of a Monty Python sketch...

"Mind if we call you Mike, just to keep things straight ?"

(Actually in that sketch, the straight man's name was Michael - everyone else was named Bruce - now that's bizarre, too.)

Hey I just noticed, this is my 250th post ! Not bad for 3 years.

I'd better say something now to make it "non-padding".

ACDSee is great for reducing quality of photos to keep the original size, but smaller file size. It's also a great photo viewer for slideshows and thumbnails.

There.
