Do i have to buy it separetly??

My friend has it on his cakewalk but when Got mine it doesnt have it!!

I have Cakewalk Pro-Audio 9

yes, session drummer comes with PA9, you don't have to buy seperately. :)

I have been using it all this while, very useful. :)

just remember to select the midi track first, then right click and choose midi effect, it should be there!

Have fun!

Independent corroboration of what Leeking says: yes, it's part of Cakewalk Pro 9 and SONAR, probably Guitar Studio and Home Studio as well... it's listed under MIDI plug-ins...

It is quite counter-intuitive to use, but once you learn its quirks, it can be a pretty useful tool. Break out the manual or try Scott Garrigus' Cakewalk Power! or SONAR Power! books...

But of course you need a MIDI device with drum sounds to be able to use this... your other post led me to believe you haven't one...

thats strange... the cw program i seen wasnt using midi devices they would just set up a midi track right click on effects and select session drummer. then up pop'd the different beats.

i think for some reason it might not be installed? i dont find the folder in C:/cakwalk9 (or whatever) where its installed

; (

doh!

But how could you hear any beats if you don't have a MIDI device to play them?

Maybe not. Not sure where Cakewalk 9 puts it, but with SONAR it's in C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared MIDI Plugins\

The file name is Sessndrm.dll and there's a corresponding Help system file Sessndrm.hlp...

It must have been the soundblaster card what was enabling me to hear the "beats"

I did a search for those files you mentioned on the last post. There were no results....so i know its not installed (the session drummer).....which i cant figure out why for the life of me. Im going to try and re-install it (cw9) , because for all I know my soundcard could have a built in synth device. Its definitly MIDI compatible it has 2 midi ins and outs.

THaNks for your replies

The Dakota, I'm pretty certain, does not have a MIDI synth, only a MIDI interface.
