OKAY! I got my Shure KSM 27 mic. I got my Art Tube MP pre-amp. I got my Audiophile 2496 sound card. I got my ProTools Free on my Mac G4.

Now I can't get any sound to go from my mic to my computer--at least it doesn't show any signs of getting there.

The plugs are all installed properly from mic to sound card, but I don't get any sound when I try to record.

How can I get the sound from my mic to my recording/editing software (Pro Tools Free)? I am guessing that it is a matter of properly designating inputs/outputs in some of the software, but at this point I'm so confused (not to mention a heck of a lot poorer than when I started) that I can't figure it out.

I also have Cakewalk Metro 5 which came with the audio card. I can use that instead of Pro Tools if that helps to get my recording going...

Please Help!

In your software settings there should be some options for hardware or devices. You will have to tell the software globally what card to use and usually on the tracks themselves you pick the individual inputs and outputs.

there should be some sort of control panel for mixing/routing signals to and from the audiophile (I have a Delta44 and this is know as the 'Delta Control Panel')....make sure that the levels are up for the inputs and also that they are not muted.

don't know much about protools...but you probably also have to designate, for each, track the input(s) that you want to route to that track...

I've tried these things and still no go. I think maybe it has to do with ASIO, or something of that nature (I don't fully understand how ASIO works at this point.)

Any other suggestions out there? PLEASE HELP!
