I am trying to copyright my music. Can somebody help me

This has been asked a lot....but, no, you can't just "mail it to yourself and not open it"...well, you could, but if somebody heard the song and filled out the forms and actually registered it with the Library of Congress, they would win and you would lose.....packages can be steamed open, postmarks adulterated, etc....the only legal way is to register your song(s).....

This particular thread sez it all....gibs

I beg to differ, but its not true.

check it... http://www.mcs.net/~fishercg/copyfaq.html

YOu only need to send in copies to the Lib of congress if you are PUBLISHING.. thats a little different than copyrighting.
Contrary to popular misconception there is no great mystery on how to copyright your original music and lyrics. According to the US Copyright law as soon as you affix your music and lyrics in a tangible medium it is afforded copyright protection.

play it for some people... get some witnesses, and your cool .

But if your REALLY think someones gonna snake it, go ahead and register it. Its $30, and you only need the PA form... unless you are Publishing, then throw in the SR form and another $30.

xoxo
