i have a question on how to connect my delta 44's outputs to my stereo system

i have noticed that when i hook up the outputs with a 1/4 jack i have to use an rca jack converter, i was wondering if this is how you usually hook up the card to a stereo

I have also noticed that when i am playing back sound through the delta to my speakers or through headphones i am hearing my mix through one side of my headphones of through one speaker, is this normal?

The outputs on the Delta are MONO. You need a pair to get a stereo output. On mine I use Outs 1 and 2 for the main monitoring output. One is left and two is right, unless you've set something up very weird in your software.

Depends what you're connecting to. For my mixer I use a pair of balanced jack leads. If you are connecting to a stereo amp with phono inputs, you need a pair of leads with phono on one end and jacks on the other, be they connectors or jack adaptors you've put on the ends.

Phono = RCA. The 'red and white' ones that are like a flower with a stem in the middle.

so for example when i am recording a guitar on input 1 and i am recording vocals on input 2 i will hear the guitar through output 1 and the vocals on output 2 and when i hear this through my headphones i will hear the guitar on one side of my headphones and the vocals on the other side?

Depends. Let me explain, but I'll have to be quick:

Look in your driver (the M in the system tray). In the patchbay/router section - you can choose for outputs 1/2 to monitor hardware inputs 1/2, or to carry the outputs of the Monitor Mixer (first tab).

If you choose to monitor the inputs only, then you will be right. If you choose the monitor mixer, then you set it up in there. Ungang the pairs of inputs, pan one and two both to the centre and you can change the volumes you need for monitoring in there. You also have controls for the Wave Outputs - gang these (stereo link) and they will carry the output from your software.

Thus if you use the Mon Mixer, you can adjust the output from your software and each of your inputs individually, output them all on a stereo pair (Outs 1/2) and live happily ever after, all without a hardware mixer!

Hope that explains it. Sorry it's rushed.
