im buying a new pc with a delta 66 soundcard and the omnistudio breakoutbox

there is no way i can afford any monitors for a very very long time so forget about them

but i still want to be able to hear what i have recorded and be able to hear in realtime when i am playing nice and loud through some speakers

can someone pleeeeese give me a DETAILED explanation of the best way to do this saying what goes where, why, how etc

this would really help me out

thanks

welp, run a cable, usualy stereo, from the outs on your card, then run that into the amp. from the amp hook the speakers up to that and there you go

What kind of software are you using??

There may be a setting in your software that allows you to send to computer monitors, but i donno.

computer monitors??? i wanna use my amp and speakers

anyway, the son the delta 66 are coaxial s/pdif i/o and there is loads of connections on the omnistudio, but im guessing i have to come from the card

i know that when going into the amp i have to go into the aux using phonos but what connections should be on the other end of the wires. What wires do i need ( phonos to ???) and am i right in thinking i have to connect to the delta or do i go into the omni

please help me

thanks

You can use 1/4" to RCA cables from the monitors out on the omni studio and plug them into the aux inputs on you Hi Fi amp.

Hope that helps.

thanks mate

is it better to do it that way (connecting streight to the omnistudio) instead of going to the delta

if so do you know why

is there a way of connecting from the amp to the delta 66?

vestast- do you have the omnistudio and does it sound good connecting it your way.

and does anyone else have the delta 66 and omnistudio connected to their hifi. how do you connect yours?

thanks to all in advance

"is it better to do it that way (connecting streight to the omnistudio) instead of going to the delta

Well I used to have one and that was the way I would hook it up when I wanted to see how my mix translated on other speakers.

As far as I remember you can't hook up your speakers directly to the Delta 66 as it uses a special breakout cable to go into either a breakout box or the Omni studio.

Used to, and yes it sounded great. Of course like I said I only used the Hi Fi speakers as a reference from my monitors, but it works..

vestast- thanks for the help

just one more question, when i looked for these cables on the web i found that they come in two different types

1x 1/4 jack to 2x RCA this is stereo i think
and the other

2x 1/4 jack to 2x RCA this is mono

which one do i use. A stereo signal is better isnt it, but it only has one 1/4 jack

now im confused

if i use the stereo cable does the 1/4 jack go into the R or L on the back of the omni

and if i use the monos i would just connect the colours the same as the amp in the back of the omni, i think

please help me as this has confused me now
thanks

A single 1/4 to RCA from the left output of the omni to the left aux input on the amp, and the same for the right side should do it.
