I just got an ART tps and I was just wondering what would changing the tubes inside entail? Is it worth it? and how can I find out which tubes will fit?
If you're reasonably mechanically inclined it shouldn't be too difficult. Unplug it, let it sit for a while, pop the cover, and take a look.
Chances are it uses a 12ax7. You can sub a 12ay7, 12au7, or 12at7 for different gain/tone, though it probably won't make a huge difference in a low-voltage pre like the ART. If it were me I'd just use a good quality 12ax7/7025/ECC83.
