How did they make this sound?! It's driving me crazy!

I really like the production on this track, it was by Spike Stent, and there's a particular sound in this song that I have no idea how they made. Actually, there's tonnes of interesting production on the track but there's one sound in particular that I really like.

At about 5.30, and through the fade of the song there's a swooshy screamy sound - kinda synth sounding with some delay on it. Any idea how they made that? It appears in other places in the song too but the end is where it's most clear.

It's driven me crazy for ages! I figured time to ask the experts their opinion...any ideas?

Probably just a synth sound. The pitch goes up with portamento like with a thermine.

That's a jaw harp mate but processed with slow sweeping phasor, delay and distortion.
