I need to know how to transfer music from a 4 track recorder onto c/d-if it can be done. Can anyone help me with this?

You can mix down to Cd by using your cd player's line outs into your sound card's line in. Most cheaper sound cards have a 1/8" jack so you could just get the appropriate patch cable from Radio Shack or other audio place. You will need some type of software to take the audio in and convert it to the appropraite file i.e. WAV for Pc's. Then Use your CD Burning software...which as I come to think of it, should have that software included. I've used MusicMatch jukebox with great results.

Another option would be to mix to another format like Minidisc, DAT or good old cassette and go from that into your computer. I strongly reccomend using some kind of better audio program like Cakewalk to add compression and reduce hiss and such before you go to CD.

An ordinary audio CD contains stereo tracks that are recorded at 44.1KHz sampling rate and 16 bits.

Either record the tape deck from its stereo outs or record all four tracks down to stereo.

With Adobe Audition I record a 4-track tape as a 4-track computer session, then mix down to stereo. AA allows me to tell it to record at 44.1KHz, and the default bitdepth is 32, so I convert to 16 bit, and save it to a folder to burn to CD.
