Hello.

I want to ask how can I use my POD XT Live as my soundcard for RECORDING my guitar.
I mean, not recording the POD sound but use it as a INTERFACE ONLY.
Honestly I don't use distortion sounds of POD XT. When I connect POD to my Amp(s) it just ruin the sound (even if I deactivate all effects/amp emulations in it).
So for now I would like to use my POD as a soundcard only, I've heard POD has a pretty good soundcard?
I've tried to make this myself but I've always end up using POD as an amp and recording it...

Gear I have:
Shure SM57
Tapco MIX50 Mixer
Amp I: Peavey JSX
Amp II: Amplug
PC with Windows 7

I know I can use POD to recording my guitar alone but I really want to record my amp sound (Peavey JSX) and a little Amplug which sounds really nice.
And because of that I would like to record my sound in two ways (not sure if this is a good connection):

I. Shure SM57 (Peavey JSX) {XLR Cable} -> {XLR Cable - Mic Input} Tapco MIX50 {Jack Cable - Line?} -> {Jack Cable - Input} POD XT Live {USB Cable?} -> {USB Cable?} PC -> Reaper
II. Guitar -> Amplug {mini Jack 3,5 mm - AUX ?} -> {Mini Jack>Jack - Input} POD XT Live {USB Cable?} -> {USB Cable?} PC -> Reaper

So my main question:

How should I set up my POD XT (to be non-intervention to my sound) as a soundcard (WHAT POD OPTIONS/MODE SHOULD I TURN OFF/ON and how can I do it) and how to set up my PC with it?
And how should I connect the whole chain (in these two ways)?

I'd be very thankful for any thoughts!
Cheers.

I've got a podxt myself, and I often use it purely as an interface. If you connect it to your computer via USB and then go into your Pod audio settings you can choose to "send clean guitar only". That's the way I do it!

If I recall correctly, you can connect the the POD XT to your PC via USB. You'll need to install the latest drivers from their website. After that, go to your PC settings, and select the POD as your audio device. Select it as the audio device on your DAW too, and record away. I haven't ever done this with the POD, but the method is mostly the same with all soundcards. If you only want to record, and aren't interested in the tones, I suggest trading it in for a POD UX2 or UX 1. They're soundcards built for the sole purpose of recording.

yeah, just deselect all the FX on the software that is being selected by the Pod to get a clean signal. yes, you could plug the mic into the Pod, but again you need to deselect all the emulations and FX.
