I'm a rookie working with Cubase sx, but after much work finally produced several tracks out my midi files. I want to add stereo spacing with pan. Tried Cool Edit, N-Track with not luck. What's wrong with my Audiophile 192?
I cannot get but tracks that sound the same both right and left, mono or stereo.
Anybody please, heeeeeeeeelp !

Do you want to place notes across the pan spectrum? Or separate instruments from each other?

Does the midi file you are working with contain multiple instruments? Could your question be a little more confusing?

The midi file has seven instruments and I want them to sound stereo, separate each other with some panning spacing, as a real ensemble would sound. Maybe that's the easier way for me to go. I guess recording the tracks in mono will avoid more confussion.
Sorry, I did not clarify.
Thanks,

I don't know cubase but just about any tracking software package will allow you to pan each mono track as you wish. then, when you mix down to two stereo tracks, those will show the spacing. Sorry if this is self evident.

Make sure you are monitoring in stereo or you wont hear any panning you add.
On the Cubase mixer there is a slider at the top i think that lets you pan the seperate tracks. the slider goes sidey ways. Also, in Cubase SX in the window with all your waves when you select a channel the channel fader appears at the left hand side and you can change the panning, level and FXs from there.
You can automate your panning/level/FX also but ill leave it there for now.

Thank you guys for your help.
Looks like I have a hardware conflict. My computer have two partitions: Win XP and 98SE. I like it that way so I can run vintage software (as Free Pro Tools, etc.) that only runs on 98. Also, I always have a scape way in case of problems with either system.
I installed the Audiophile 192 on XP but still kept my Soundblaster Live! since the Audiophile is not compatible with 98. It Sounds as they are fighting for resources. I went suspicious because the regular windows mixer does not show up in XP as well as other soundblaster applications even after I reinstall it. Then I installed the software on a laptop and was able to pan my tracks perfectly! From now, I'm planning to pan the stereo on my laptop and do the mastering on the desktop till I decide what to do about this mess.
Any sugestion?
