how and where to sell

Ahite I'm havin a hard time, [personally} selling cds - but Im pretty sure its cuz im not a "people-person" when it comes to sellin - cuz my cuz is sellin em on the quick . . .

What I wanna know though, is are there any places you guys use as "stompin grounds" where you get a better sales record? And are you doing better "out the trunk" vs. online vs. in stores . . . [not that im lookin for the magic button to go platinum n shit - but whats working for yall . . . just on a grass roots level?

--mall
--fast food spots
--hi school sport events
--record stores


Or do you get more sells at your live events than anything else?

Like I said, my cuz gets em off just in the street . .. but he one of those "cityslickers" . . . sellin sand at the beach . . .
 
You should sell a few more at your shows...

out the trunk of your car..is good..have the CD playin in the car while you pushing your product to people on the streets..

never really tried the high school events..but that might be a good start to... try to get ya'lls CD placed on Itunes..and let everyone know in your maiing list from all your accounts site and post ewverywhere on the board to let them know you have it up on Itunes...

im sure its a few others..but i can't think right now..


**Note- I was just about to ask wahts up with the Album...might have to meet up with you someday since I'm down here at Virginia Beach durning the week
 
4 sure - i got a sister in VA Beach - tryin to get her to link me up wit a open mic venue so . . . soon . . .
 
Events, out the trunk and face to face seems to give you more sales then online. I think people want hands on before they buy.

Networking is going to be something you really wanna take the time to learn and do. Sometiems u gotta give out stuff free and get it in da right hands. But on da other hand hit up djs, radio, clubs, talent shows,ect.. MYSPACE is also a big place to get alot of promotion and networking going. It works trust me. I have gotten a few recording sessions from people on myspace. Also make a video promoting your album. Use YOUTUBE. It works look at Soulja Boy(top selling artist right now). But dats all jus my two cents fam.

Main sales in the industry that gets you the most money comes from shows. Other locations that I usually get sales are brick & mortar stores, and "out the trunk". Most sales that I get down here, are from college radio plays that bring in customers. Radio will still be the number 1 way of promotion, which equals sales.
