I know I am setting myself up to be crucified, but does anyone have an opinion, or better yet some useful advice on a reasonably priced effects processor. Only really for vocals and maybe some acoustic instrumentation. I have been looking at the….dare I say it….Alesis PicoVerb. I have a QS8.1 and the mk2 active monitors, both of which I really like, but I have never heard an encouraging word about their effects units…..and the sky’s are not cloudy all day. Any advice for a decent unit to get started with for under $200?

I have the TC Electronic M-One XL, it's a great box, really usable presets, and a lot of great features.

I don't have the Lexicon MPX-500, however I have heard some great things about them from those who have it.

It's safe to say that if you get either of these brands you won't be disappointed. One of the features you want to make sure you have(both of these have it) is Effect Mix control. it comes in handy when you are going straight through the unit with a guitar, let's say.

I guess I must have cloth ears,

but I really like the sound of Alesis reverbs. I finally killed my Midiverb II in an evil head-on too much level accident, but found a Wedge to take it's place.

The Picoverb lacks any kind of programability, though...

I've not had experience with the Picoverb specfically, but in general I give Alesis reverbs high marks.

My TC M-One is great for the cost. I enjoy it very much. But I have never used a Lexicon. The alesis stuff I have used was kinda crappy to my ears. It was a NanoVerb tho.
