Oh REALLY????
hi ,

i'm bringing this up again since i'm getting some money soon ;) and am lookin for a multi i/o card. Are there any users out there? tlkaed to some last year... if you read this please respond again... I'm in doubt whether to get the dsp24 + ADCIII for about 700 euro or the dsp2000 system for 409 euro... we have a small mixer as a band but it's pretty much crap...

well anyway, please respond...

If you only need a handful of AD converters, then going the dsp24 + ADCIII certainly gives you a quality way to go. It's certainly better than the dsp2000 system (better preamps, better AD converters (Crystal) ...

Hey, rather than getting the DSP24 and the ADCIII, you might as well get the entire SystemIII package. It's not much more money but gives you the entire set of outputs (might wanna use them sometime ;) ). Be aware though, the System III is a dying species. It's going to be replaced by the new (and pretty cool) System3000 (tentative name that is). Will be released around July approximately.

If you were in the US, people should point out the Delta 1010 which also has a better AD conversion than the DSP2000, yet doesn't feature any pre-amps (DSP2000 has 2, the ADCIII has 8).
The Delta 1010 is hugely overpriced in Europe. I've seen for around $1000 ... as oppossed to $520 in the US.

Some people consider the RME Multiface a step up from the D-1010. Great routing flexibility: each input channel can be assigned to every output at the same time with different volumes. Great for different headphone mixes when recording with bands ... flexibility's always a plus). Greatest tech- and driver support. They've got that down at RME. The Multiface doesn't have preamps either. You can get the Multiface in Europe for around $700 (www.musicians-gear.com or www.netzmarkt.de/thomann ).

Last not least, if you really want pre-amps with your soundcard, you should check out the Aardvark Q10. Eight channels I/O. Additionally it's got 4 FX sends/returns ... something the I'm sure a number of Delat 1010 users wish they had. Aardvark's been VERY slow at getting drivers out but their products are great once they work properly on your OS. They finally got their final Win XP driver out two days ago (after months of promises). People are happy. Aardvark runs at around $950 in Europe ... $800 in the US.

You might pretty soon want to get separate preamps if you do more than just casual recordings. So, don't make your decision solely on whether an Audio-card has built-in ... don't spend your money on something you're likely to "not" use much in the future ...

In essence, if you have the money for a DSP24 + ADCIII, rather take the real plunge (SystemIII) which is probably a step up from even the Delta 1010 or Aardvark Q10. Comparable to the SystemIII are the RME Multiface (ugly little unit but powerful).

thanks though...

i'm quite familiar with the specs on all of the mentioned hardware except for the RME... the aardvark is very cool but runs about 1050 euro right now...

the dsp 2000 is by all means the cheapest plus is available second hand some times... and i could add a adcIII later... i'm curious for the dsp3000, they say it'ds the like the dsp2000 but with the systemIII specs... THAT would be great... hope it's reasonably priced.. anyway...

i really like the aardvark for the on-board dsp plus VUmeters...

The delta is way to expensive...

any more?

Check out the Aark 24 ... runs for around €850 (musicians-gear.com). Can't go wrong there either.

Well, for what it's worth I think I'm gonna get the RME Digiface and a few of the new ST ADAM. ADAM is a DSP2000 with ADAT interfaces instead of their proprietary interface, and without 96KHz. But this is mostly because I sometimes use a Laptop for recordig...

aark24? nah, when i'm going the more expensive route i want pre-amps...

i think i'm gonna go the dsp2000 route... cuz i haven't got great mic's... no need for a great recording interface...

oh btw, i will be using ion it on a pIV XP systems...

The XP drivers for the 2000 are still "beta". I believe most people have gotten them to work though. You'll find this topic covered at the ST Audio site.

You got AUDIOWERK8(2 in/8(!!!)outs) for only 149 euros,on promotion at "Music Store,Kholn"- (germany company, they deliver anywhere by UPS and you only have to pay when you get it at your address...)18 bits, good stuff.!

Hey Guhlenn
I have the c-port audio DSP 2000.I think thats the model you are referring to,with the 8 channel breakout box and stereo S/PDIF?It's a good value (about $400 US) for the features.I've had mine for about a year and it isn't even obsolete yet!(small joke)
Same drivers as Terratec and some other popular cards. It should serve you well.

thanks Tom, that's good news... and twist; i didn't know they were beta however i heard most got the crads up and running in little time... i can pick up a aardvark direct pro second had now ... about 400 euro too... oh my god this is gettin confusing...

oh and btw orangegangster... thanks for the offer man but two in? i don't care about out (well a stereo out is nice ;) ) but i could have stayed with my sb...

i wanna record my band sooo... 4 in minimum 8 in is better (i want something like the mackie 24 track machine... so damn nice... so damn out of my reach... :(

thanks you all though

you´re welcome..,i only mentioned the audiowerk co´s it´s really cheap,(150 $dolls)
and if youre only doing homestudio work,i bet you´re not recording more than one/two instruments at the time...the good thing is that with 8 separate outs (SB cant do that..)one can mixer outside the p.c in a normal mixer(which i prefer,anyway..)and send it back in for stereo master or mix.
xerrss!

ohh..wait..you said you have a SB,..you can have them working both together than you have 4 ins,or even more,it depends on the model you have, and all the other out´s with it ...i think ..for 150$dolls!
but all other sujestions are probably better, only more money...

thansk for your help bro, but as i wrote in the previous post, i need/want to record my band. now 4 in is an option, but 8 is far better. Why would i want to mix in 8 tracks when i recorded only two???

and thinking of trying to get an audiowerk and a sb work together simultaneously seems to me a nightmare...

Sblive Multichannel ASIO Record

If you have a sound blaster platinum, check out the new drivers at the kxproject page http://www.kxproject.com

With my one sblive plat card i can now record multichannel asio!!
extremely flexible routing.

With the virtual patching window you can connect all the sblive plat ins to asio rec busses

1&2 ac97
3&4 dig cd
5&6 12s
7&8 optical dig
9&10 mic /line 2
11&12 aux 2

I have succesfully recorded from cd dig, aux 2 and mic/line 2 at once. (6 channels) i cant see any reason why you cant record more (with 2 digital ins)

in case you cant tell i'm very excited!

Great link!:
This may solve some issues with my Audigy,i hope..-Another step towards perfection,...Thanks mate:cool:

Your Welcome!

I'm sure there are many sblive/audigy users out there using the useless drivers that ship with the card when they could be having much more success with others for no more $$ (cheap multichanel io)

I agree with you at some point ,but i´ve only got the live and now Audigy because of the Soundfonts thing...as i´m no keyboard player,i dont even have a synth in my home studio,i tend to spend my money a little more in the recording machines stuff ...
Anyway ,i´ve got 8 tracks for audio in a VS880,..now..,with a good mixer(with 8 direct outs..)...what would you recomend for me if i want 8 more tracks inside a PC?...so i could deal with 8+8 tracks at once?
