Well, you have all of the gear; but, do you have a reverb processor? You need one of those for vocals so you can get that professional round sound we all crave.

From there, you follow the basic set-up diagrams that are in your 4-tracker manual and plug in the whole Kaboodle of stuff.

You only have 4 tracks so you may have to bounce some tracks to have an open track for you vocal. Or, you can set-up a three track music background and then do voice.

Always get your drums down first; I'm assuming you are using a drum machine? If not, you need to get the rhythm tracks down before you add solo horn/vocal/etc.

If you search around this site you will find more information to help you, as well as other sites.

Plug it in and get going man. Mistakes breed success.

Basically, most things will plug into the mixer. Plug the cassette deck and microphone directly into your mixer. In order to record your mic channels into your mixer you need to interface the mixer with the recorder. To do this, plug a cable from the mixer's "Effects send" to the recorder's inputs. To monitor what's on tape you may want to plug the recorder's output in one of the mixers stereo channels (or two mono channels).

For the Compressor - your mixer should have an insert plug on each channel. This is where you would plug your compressor into. Use a "Y" cable from your music store to hook up the compressor.

If you're singing from performance tapes, my guess is that you'll only be worrying about recording vocals. The first step in recording any song is to record the music track to 2 channels of the multitracker. Then record the vocal track(s) into the other two channels of the recorder via the aux sends.

Try this and get back to us with your progress.
