I've been emceeing since '98 always rapping on other people's beats. Recently, I've been able to compile a whole album-full of my songs over beats from MP3.com.
But I realize that you can't really go big using jacked beats since sooner or later I'm gonna get some shit for copyrights, etc. So I've been moving onto making my own beats.
I purchased a Roland XP-30 a little over a year ago, but have no way to edit beats. I been using Fruity Loops, but Fruity Loops can only take you so far.
I can see the tremendous potential in making beats with my XP-30, but have no way to record them. The only connection from my synth to my computer is a cable to one of my CPU's ports. I'm not very positive of the name, but it's a 9 pin port.
My Cakewalk for some reason doesn't record any more than 2 sounds...it's weird and fucked up.
Can you both brief me on how to properly connect my synth to my computer so I can use a software synthesizer to record my beats?
Thanks in advance.
