Hi- I need help with my set-up, I like to hook-up an Alesis 3630 Compressor with my curent set, can anyone tell me how to hook it up

My current set up is as follows:

1. Compaq Presario SR-2100 PC – Window XP , Ram 2.93 gig, Cakewalk Sonar Power Studio 250 with External Sound Card.

2. AKG Perception 200 condenser mic plug into- Mic Amp output from Mic Amp
In-put to Track 1 of Mackie DFX-6 channel mixer.

3. Mackie DFX-6 channel mixer- Main out-put (L/R) (2 XRL Mic cables) connected to in-put mic 1Left and mic 2Right of Sonar External USB Sound Card.

4. Roland monitors- out-put (RCA Cord) plugged into Sonar External USB Sound Card.

I welcome any advice thanks!!!!!

I'm guessing you do all your tracking and mixing from the Mackie board because it looks like you are just dumping a stereo mix to your sound card.

With that Mackie mixer you need a Y cable. 1/4" TRS----> to two 1/4"TR jacks.

Connect the 1/4" TRS into the insert on the channel you want to compress. Connect the "Tip" side of the Y cable into the send on the compressor. Connect the "Ring" side of the Y cable to the return on the compressor. I'm pretty sure its in the owners manual.
