Hello guys

So im a 17 year old singer , and i wanna "build" a HomeStudio i already made alot of search and what im thinking buying is this:

Computer : Imac (Base version) maybe with "Fusion Drive"
Audio Interface:Focusrite Saffire pro 14 or 24 (or suggest other?)
Headphones : audio technica ath-m50
Studio Monitors : Yamaha HS50
Microphone :The microphone it´s kinda undecided but i love the AKG Perception 220 and the rode nta2

In the present day i only record with a USB Shure PG 27 , and a computer. The quality isn´t bad at all but i really wanna upgrade to a way better quality , i have a good experience with DAW so that is not a problem. Here is a video of me singing so u guys can give better opinions about what i should buy. Since i can´t post here yet just go on youtube and search for "JC-I Want" it´s the first one with a photo

Can you guys give me your opinion and suggestions?? i want to save the max money that i can but i think that is a good setup right there (: btw im gonna buy a DSLR camera too for music videos maybe the Canon 600D

Thank you so much ;):D

I haven't heard the NT2a, but I use an NT2 and I like it on vocals a lot... mine anyway... low register voice.

Realistically, a lot of the quality you will/won't get comes down to the recording and monitoring space - hard to get good sound in a bad room, even even know it's bad sound.. read up on room treatment.

Can't comment on the camera... I've got a 6D which does video which I've used at a live gig but am yet to try with a music vid.

Good luck. There's a thread kicking around here somewhere you can use to bump up your post count so you can post links...

The 600D is the same camera as the T3i in the US. Love it. The only thing it doesn't do is autofocus while shooting video.

I recently bought a Sony A57, as it has great video capability (auto focus, that is also pretty quiet compared to the Canons I tried). I said I would never buy Sony again after all their proprietary memory sticks, etc., but the A57 won hands down and I'm very happy.

Thank you for your honest opinions about the camera (: anything about "my" setup
thank you again (:

Well all that looks good to me, especially I think you will like the Saffire units. Just make sure they have power switches or you'll be plugging and unplugging all the time like I do on my Scarlett 8i6. Beware, as I think the 14 has more outputs ad the 24 more inputs. Lots of folks just guess the 24 must be better cause it costs more but consult the tech specs to make sure the I/O meets your needs. I also second the suggestion for a PC.

"If you want to save money, buy a PC, not a mac."

Ooooo! That's gonna cause trouble! True tho..

Wanty, why a Firewire interface? Yes it will work on a mac but on little else these days, do you not have mates with computers?

What are you using at the moment? It would have to be a lot worse than the PCWorld EiSystems 3G P4 I am typing this on not to work with a good usb interface (I don't plug my NI KA6 into it for weeks on end but when I do. Bish-bosh, there it is, no messing or driver finding. Just bloody works) .

How many inputs do you think you need at the moment?

Dave.

Well i wanna do covers for youtube so i think that i don´t need that many inputs :33 about the PC i heard that Imac is alot better for music production but if you guys want you can give me some specs ideas for a computer .. i was thinking about Imac too because of GarageBand and other programms too

Was that all one sentence???

Whoever told you a mac was alot [sic] better than a pc probably has some swamp land to sell you, too. :D They both do the job just the same with the exception of price.

Recording audio doesn't take a whole lot of computing horsepower. I used to have a simple P4 machine with 2GB and it did just fine. I usually have upwards to 24 tracks which includes one VSTi (EZDrummer).

If you plan to use sample libraries, then you'll need more computing resources. Here's a simple guide

CPU power limits # of native plug-ins
RAM limits number or size of sample libraries
Hard drive spindle speed and data connection limits number of tracks.

Im a "gamer" too so im affraid that i will not use the computer for only music ; and that´s why i wanted to buy an IMAC because an IMAC is not good for gaming so if i have a awesome PC i will use it too for gaming and that will decrease performance :33
