Hello all from NoLa, I'm attempting to set up a small home studio for personal use (just me & never any live gigs, strictly a one location studio) & am looking for some guidance as to what I will need...I guess I should tell you what I already have first:
MB Pro (Firewire 800 & Usb 2.0) w/24" ext display
Logic Pro 8
Arturia Analog Laboratory (software/keyboard)
Akai MPK49
Sony MDR-7506

I'm looking to record various organs/synths/guitars/etc...(Roland JP800, E-Mu Xtreme Lead, Electribe-MX, Kp3, MicroKorg, Rhodes Mk I & LP Studio run through a Vox AC30, etc...) & record them into my Mac...

I'm mainly into movie scores, ambient, atmosphere & electronic...I'm getting some monitors in a week or two...I'm not certain if I need a mixing board (or if the software does that) or some kind of interface for the midi gear or what...

Sorry, I know its a lot to throw out there, I just don't have many peeps to ask (I'm a bit of a shut-in)...
Tysm in advance :)

As you are doing stuff by yourself, I'd suggest getting a small USB interface. This will allow you to record the audio from your assorted synths, as well as any mike level recording. If you get an interface with midi capability, this will allow you to record, edit and play back your synths via the computer.

You don't necessarily need a mixer. However, I could see that one could come in handy if you wanted to route all your synths through this and switch from one to the other.

Sweet, Ty...yeah, it's by myself...not in a band or anything, I just love creating/manipulating sound textures & whatnot...someone on my local craigslist is selling a Phonic Helix FW18 for $100 & I wasn't certain if it was a good deal for lower end gear or if I needed it at all really, I've heard mixed reviews on it way back when...nothings being recorded to send anywhere or anything, I just want to get everything down that I'm doing & assemble some things...
