I have a 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 4 GB memory that I would love to use in studio recording....

I have a Behringer MX 1604A ..an SM 58, 57, and SM7 ...and a Presonus audiobox USB 24-bit/48K recording interface....

I used to use the mixer with my windows desktop, plugged into the sound card, mic my guitar amps and have a pretty good time recording onto adobe audition pro until the motherboard had a meltdown...

here's my question..
can I plug the my mixer into the Presonus with my IMac and continue to do what I used to with Logic 9..or, is this a stupid idea ...and how would I go about this?
Using the Presonus alone doesn't work for me, I would rather mic my amps and use my own effects.
Any help?

thanks,

Shannon

Doesn't that audiobox have two mic preamps in it? I'd suggest just cutting that mixer out of the loop entirely, unless you're triple micing your amp with those three mics (which would be quite redundant with those particular mics), in which case I'd still run one straight in and premix the other two on the behri and run a TRS to the second input on the audiobox. Maybe I'm thinking of the wrong interface though... Why do you think you can't mic your amps with it?

Also - welcome to HR :D, and you might get more responses in another forum - I think people mostly talk about putting shag carpet on the walls and suffocating in vocal booths in here. :p Maybe newbies or "Digital Recording and Computers".

Thanks TH, old habits die hard I guess ;-) ...Radio guy for 47 years..can't keep my hands off a mixer LOL

lol. I do understand the mentality that it seems somehow "wrong" to not have a mixing board in the signal chain. But... it's not! :D
