Ok guys... I have a Motif6 keyboard from Yamaha which has a grip of sounds.. I currently do all of my sequencing on the board and I am plugged into a bass amp... I know, I know..!! I want to build out a home studio and need to take inventory... I really need to get bang for the buck and I am a babe in the woods with respect to recording. I am not going to do any live recording with the exception of laying vocals... Everything will be done from my motif... I work with hip hop r&b and funk and soul tracks mostly
Questions:
I will have a new pc by this weekend. 40 gig hd emachine with cd burner... I can have either xp or 98 loaded on it. Which one should I get...?
1. Anything else specific that I need to be aware of when purchasing my pc..?
2. What sequencing sofware should I run... I am new but very computer literate... (Everyone tells me get Pro tools but somehow I think I could do better for less than 799.00 plus I'm not sure how user friendly it is...)
3. Should I get an external mixing board or internal...?? (I do want to record vocals also)...
4. Monitor recomendation...?
5. Mic recomendation...
6. What else would I be missing... I plan on going shopping shortly....
